During his State of the Nation Address (SONA) President Rodrigo Duterte called on village officials, town mayors, and the national police to triple their effort with no let-up in the campaign against illegal drugs. According to the Philippine National Police (PNP) summary of the campaign against illegal drugs as of 22 July, showed that 120,038 drug pushers and users surrendered to authorities, 239 drug suspects were slain in police operations.
