BASATINE, YEMEN- MARCH 2008 .Located next door to Basatine's dropping off point for passengers, in the four-wheel drivesthat arrive day and night from Al-Kharaz Camp, a small cafŽ has become informally knownas ÒBar MogdishoÓ. Out of the hot sun, the tarpaulin-covered tea joint provides a respite forthose coming to a big city for the first time in their lives. Newly arrived tahrib mingle with thedrivers of Landcruisers, buses and taxis, as young boys fill thermos flasks, wash cups and dishup watery plates of spaghetti. As the plastic covered benches host a steady stream of customersall day, the only let up is at 5 o'clock, when people disappear to catch the daily BBC Somali Service broadcast. For half an hour or so, all is quiet. (KEYSTONE/NOOR/Alixandra Fazzina)
