RUSSLAND ST. PETERSBURG NEWSKI PROSPEKT
A view of Nevsky Prospect, the main street of St Petersburg, in 2002. Laying its first foundations in 1710, Nevsky Prospect was planned by the French architect Alexandre Jean Baptiste LeBlond. It runs for 4.5 kilometres through the heart of the city and acts as its cultural and commercial centre. St Petersburg itself was founded by Peter the Great on May 16, 1703.
