Insurance for old age (1947)
6 July 1947 marks the anniversary of the vote on the introduction of the old-age and survivors' insurance (AHV). Today's AHV originated from the wage and earnings compensation fund for military men, which was redesigned during the periods of active service in the Second World War. On 6 July 1947, the AHV was approved in a referendum based on a similar concept and was introduced on 1 January 1948. (wp)
