Unidentified Japanese youth hang around at a game centre in Akihabara, the electronics mecca in downtown Tokyo on 08 May, 2003. One time leading Japanese game software company, Sega announced today that it has scrapped it's merger plan with pinball machine maker SAMMY. Last week, the rival company Namco said it sought an answer from SEGA by Friday 09 May, 2002 on it's own major proposal to merge with SEGA.
