DEUTSCHLAND ANNA SEGHERS
German author Anna Seghers (real name Netty Radvany, nee Reiling), pictured 1980. Seghers was one of the most important writers in the GDR. From 1933 to 1947 she emigrated to France, Spain and Mexico, where she wrote her most famous novel "Das siebte Kreuz" ("The Seventh Cross"), which tells the story of seven prisoners of a concentration camp on the run. Anna Seghers was born in Mainz, Germany, on November 19, 1900, and died in East Berlin on June 1,1983. (KEYSTONE/DPA/Zentralbild/Str) === ===
