WELTRAUM MARS LANDSCHAFT
Mud on Mars. Artwork of the surface of Mars covered in water and mud. Four billion years ago, Mars was similar to Earth but, for reasons not understood, there was a sudden change and Mars became a global desert. Mars could once again be covered in water if terraforming (making Earth- like). The first phase of terraforming would involve raising the temperature from around -60 degrees Celsius to a temperature at which the water on Mars would remain liquid. This could be achieved through an atmospheric greenhouse effect by using orbiting space mirrors. (KEYSTONE/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY/DETLEV VAN RAVENSWAAY) === ===
