DEUTSCHLAND FLUGZEUGABSTURZ MUENCHEN
A black and white picture dated 07 February 1958 shows the snow-covered front part of the crashed 'BEA-Elizabethan' charter plane in Munich, Germany. A day before, the British plane with 44 aboard had crashed short after lift off in heavy snowfall. The aircraft crashed onto a house, killing 21 people, among them eleven members of the British soccer club Manchester United, who were on their way home from a Europe Cup match from Belgrade. Several memorial events are scheduled for 06 February 2008 to mark the 50th anniversary of the tragedy. (KEYSTONE/EPA/KLAUS HEIRLER)
