GERMANY PARTIES GREENS
WIE22 - 20020504 - WIESBADEN, GERMANY : German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer addresses the party delegates during the Green party congress, 04 May 2002. Fischer warned that the Middle East conflict could one day threaten Europe and insisted that European states should be active in the peace process. "If the conflict explodes, Europe will not be left untouched," Fischer told a congress of his Greens party meeting in the southwest city of Wiesbaden. Fischer, who has been involved in Middle East peace negotiations, stressed that there was no military solution to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians and that the two sides must return to the negotiating table.
