SOUTH AFRICA BIG WAVE SURFING
South African big wave surfer Pierre du Plessis surfs a huge wave at the offshore reef know as Sunset off Cape Town South Africa Monday 09 October 2006. An elite core of tow-in big wave surfers enjoyed huge southern ocean swells breaking on offshore reefs mostly in winter around the cape peninsula. The surfers are towed in by wave-runners using specialised heavier and shorter than normal big wave surfboards with footstraps. EPA/NIC BOTHMA
