SOUTH AFRICA BIG WAVE SURFING
South African big wave surfer Mickey Duffus surfs an offshore reef break known as 'Sunset' off Cape Town, South Africa Tuesday 06 September 2005. Big wave surfers from around the country flew into Cape Town Tuesday to surf waves in excess of 5 meters at one of Cape Towns famous deep water reef breaks. Braving the icy Atlantic ocean off the Cape, home to the Great White shark, the surfers use wave runners to tow each other into the huge swells riding specialised boards with foot straps to handle the high speeds.
