D 8047-06 Audrey Hepburn. Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993) by Cecil Beaton, whose portraits of the legendary actress are featured in the book 'Cecil Beaton: Photographs 1920-1970'. Audrey Hepburn was born into a priviledged family background in Belgium on 4th May 1929. She and her mother fled to London during the Nazi occupation where she later took up a modelling career. Her graceful character, elegance and style was spotted by film producers which then later led to starring roles in highly acclaimed films such as 'Funny Face' (1957), 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' (1961) and the musical movie 'My Fair Lady' (1964). The original classic musical, 'My Fair Lady', became a sold-out show when it played at London's National Theatre until June 2001 - it proved to be a massive success. Playing the lead character of Eliza Doolittle is British actress Martine McCutcheon, who has received much praise for taking on the role that originally made Hepburn a star. c. 1950s (KEYSTONE/CAMERA PRESS/Cecil Beaton)
