Fuer die Sanierung der Sondermuelldeponie Bonfol wurde eine Aushubhalle mit neun Stahlboegen errichtet. Die Sonderabfaelle werden analysiert, wenn noetig stabilisiert und in Spezialcontainer fuer den Abtransport per Bahn zu Sonderabfallverbrennungsanlagen in Deutschland und Belgien verladen, am 13. Juli 2015, in Bonfol. Die Sondermuelldeponie Bonfol wurde 1961 bis 1976 von der Basler Chemischen Industrie, dem Kanton Bern, dem regionalen Gewerbe und der Armee genutzt. In der ehemaligen Tongrube wurden auf einer Flaeche von 20'000 Quadratmetern 114'000 Tonnen Sonderabfaelle deponiert. Die Sanierung der Deponie hat im April 2010 begonnen und soll 2016 abgeschlossen werden.
