Delegations of the four nations, Switzerland, Italy, France and Great Britain climb the Matterhorn mountain, 4,478 meters over sea level, from different ridges in Zermatt, Switzerland, Friday, July 17, 2015. This is to sign the "Act of Friendship" to commemorate the first ascent of Italian alpinists on July 17, 1865 and the long lasting friendship between Italy and Switzerland. Alpinists and direct descendents of the alpinists who reached the summit in July, 1865 take part in these delegations. On July 14, 1865, Peter Taugwalder and his son Peter Taugwalder, both Zermatt mountain guides, the British climber Edward Whymper plus four alpinists reached the peak of the Matterhorn. During the descent, four alpinists fell to death. On July 14, 2015, Zermatt celebrated 150 years of the first ascent onto the Matterhorn mountain. (KEYSTONE/Dominic Steinmann)
