GROSSBRITANNIEN MARGOT FONTEYN
Legendary British ballerina Dame Margot Fonteyn (1919-1991) pictured in 1990. Born in Reigate, Surrey, England, and named Margaret Hookham, she went on to become the leading name in English ballet, and her full name eventually became Dame Margot Fonteyn de Arias. The muse of British choreographer Sir Frederick Ashton, through the 1960's and 1970's. Fonteyn is the subject of a new biography, "Margot Fonteyn: A Life" by Meredith Daneman.
