A man getting dresed up as 'the bear' to take part in the traditional carnival. Arizkun, Valley of Baztan (Basque Country) February 15, 2014. Traditionaly, in several villages in Baztan valley, 'Gizakunde' (day of men in Basque language) and Emakunde (day of women in Basque language) were celebrated just before the carnival. They have not been celebrated for many years, but in the 90's some cultural groups had the aim to recover them. Since then, they celebrate a mixture of those two days among the villages of Arizkun and Erratzu, and is named 'Gizakunde'.
