The 3D printer in the FabLab Luzern prints a sculpture, pictured on February 28, 2013, in Lucerne, Switzerland. The plastic used for this purpose reaches a temperature of 220°C and becomes fluid. The sculpture is positioned accurately and cooled down continuously. The print head always moves at the same height and only laterally, forward and backward, whereas the platform moves downward. The FabLab Luzern belongs to the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and is an open, democratic high tech workshop with the aim to provide private persons with industrial manufacturing processes, such as a 3D printer, for the processing of individual items.
