SCHWEIZ SPEICHERSEE ZERVREILA
The dam of the Zervreila reservoir lake, taken in Vals on July 3, 2014. The Zervreila power plants use hydroelectric power of a 200 km2 catchment area in the upper valleys of Vals and Safien. Core of the facility is the Zervreila reservoir lake with its 151m high arch dam with its 504 m length on top and a reservoir capacity of 100 million m3. This reservoir enables to save the influx of the Valserrhine above the dam site and also the the side streams up to the Peilbach. The water is used for a first time for hydroelectric power production in the Zervreila power station at the foot of the dam. Through a connection tunnel, with a capacity of 20 m3/s, the water flows into the equalization tank Wanna located in the valley of Safien and will be used for power production thereafter.

(KEYSTONE/Christian Beutler)

The Zervreila power plant in front of the dam and the Zervreilahorn, taken in Vals on July 3, 2014. Through a connection tunnel, with a capacity of 20 m3 / s, the water flows into the equalization tank Wanna located in the valley of Safien and will be used for power production thereafter. SCHWEIZ SPEICHERSEE ZERVREILA
Water pipes in the Zervreila power plant, taken in Vals on July 3, 2014.
