The rosary and hat which belonged to Michel Croz, Charles Hudson's book of prayers, a shoe used by Lord Francis Douglas on the left and one used by D. Robert Hadows during the first ascension of the Matterhorn 150 years ago exhibited at the Matterhorn Museum in Zermatt in the Canton of Valais, Switzerland, on February 12, 2019. On July 14, 1865, Edward Whymper succeeds in being the first to ascend the 4478 meters high summit of the Matterhorn in Switzerland along with mountain guide Peter Taugwalder senior (1820-1888), mountain guide Michel Croz, Charles Hudson, Lord Francis Douglas, Douglas R. Hadow and mountain guide Peter Taugwalder junior (1843-1923). During the descent Croz, Hudson, Douglas and Hadow fell to their deaths. (KEYSTONE/Christian Beutler)
