Unpolished cow bells after the casting molds have been removed in the manufacturing facility of the bell foundry Gusset Inc. in Uetendorf in the canton of Berne, Switzerland, pictured on April 20, 2006. The family enterprise is the oldest bell foundry in Switzerland. They persue the handicraft for 200 years as at that time. 50 bells of an alloy of 80% copper and 20% tin are founded per day. After the founding, the bells are sandblasted, after that polished and grinded on the lathe. Then, bright ornamental stripes are brought on. Only approximately 20% of the bells are sold to farmers for the cows. The principal part of the business are bells as testimonies and gifts. (KEYSTONE/Martin Ruetschi)
