GERMANY-NIETZSCHE/SLOTERDIJK
ERF02 - 20000825 - WEIMAR, GERMANY : Controversial German philosopher Peter Sloterdijk speaks on Friday 25 August 2000 in Weimar, Germany on the 100th anniversary of the death of Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900). The centenary celebrations for the philosopher were held in the cultural capital of Germany known as the home of Goethe and Schiller. Nietzsche's doctrine of the superman was seized on by the Nazis as a justification for their racist policies but many deny the validity of the Nazi connection. EPA PHOTO DPA/MARTIN SCHUTT/ms/er/bw
