GB.WILTSHIRE. FARMING CRISIS
GB. England. Marlborough Downs, Wiltshire. The farm of Rob Hislop, Spray's Farm. Hislop has a dairy farm of 170 cows, and supplements his income with a children's nursery. Faced with problems over the years of Bovine TB in his cows, spread by the many badgers in the area, he is unable to cull them as they are a protected species. Currently there is a vigorous debate between farmers and government agencies as to how to tackle this increasingly serious problem as TB becomes indemic. Hislop's dairy herd is managed and milked by two Bulgarian 'cowmen', works starts at 5am and finishes after afternoon milking at 7pm 365 days of the year. 2010 (KEYSTONE/MAGNUM PHOTOS/Peter Marlow)
