People riding bicycles pass by a truck fallen onto a road after the collapse of the Hanshin Expressway in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, western Japan, January 18, 1995, the day after the Great Hanshin Earthquake. The massive earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 hit the city of Kobe and nearby areas at 5:46 a.m. on January 17, 1995. The quake left 6,434 people dead and 43,792 injured.
