ARTWORK OF VIRGO CLUSTER GALAXIES FROM PLANET
Galaxies. Artwork of four of the galaxies in the Virgo Cluster seen from a hypothetical planet. These are spiral galaxies. Their nuclei contain older stars, and thus appear more orange, while their spiral arms contain hot young stars, and appear bluer. The Virgo Cluster is part of the local supercluster of galaxies. It lies between 50 and 60 million light years away and contains thousands of galaxies. (KEYSTONE/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY/DALE DARBY)
