BOSASSO, SOMALIA- NOVEMBER 2007 .From the stony approaches to the coastal desert, camps sprawl across the forsaken landscapearound Bossaso town. Some have been there for nearly twenty years since the outbreak ofcivil war in Somalia; only the residents continue to change as the exodus of people continues.Named informally after different regions of the country, or simply referred to by numbers,Bush Camp #1 is just one of these squalid settlements. Shelters are crudely constructed ofanything found - torn clothes and sheets, sticks, cardboard boxes, sacks and the shells of oildrums. Rain often soaks the residents through their flimsy weatherproofing, as plastic sheetingis hard to come by. Few have anything to sleep on or cover them at night to protect them fromthe strong winds.
