ROY CHAPMAN ANDREWS, US EXPLORER
Roy Chapman Andrews (1884-1960). Historical image of the US explorer, adventurer and naturalist Roy Chapman Andrews, holding a deer skull. Andrews is best known for his explorations of China and Mongolia between 1916-1930, where his expeditions discovered fossilised dinosaur eggs in 1923. In 1934 Andrews became director of the American Museum of Natural History. It is said that the character Indiana Jones was based on Andrews.
