Sony's Network Service manager Shinichi Sawatari explains the electronics giant's new channel server, "CoCoon," at the Sony Dream World 2002 in Yokohama, south of Tokyo, Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002. CoCoon, right on desk, is a tuner about the size of a DVD player that connects digital TVs to the Internet by broadband. Equipped with a hard disc that can record 100 hours of video, CoCoon can search for and automatically record programs under key words such as soccer or a title of a TV show. The machine has a browser to access some Web pages with the weather report, horoscope and the news. Cocoon will sell for about 130,000 yen (dlr 1,078) in Japan in November and planned sometime later for overseas markets. (AP Photo/Naokazu Oinuma)
