SCHWEIZ GRAUBUENDEN MUESTAIR
Switzerland canton (state) of Graubuenden (Grisons) Benedictine Convent of St. John - a nunnery since the 12th c - at Muestair (in the Val Muestair, Muenstertal). The church and the adjacent chapel date from the 8th c. The fortified tower, called Plantaturm, is the oldest of its kind in the Alps. Designated a World Heritage site. (KEYSTONE/Georg Gerster)
