Arco Solar, solar branch of Atlantic Richfield, an oil company, built in 1983 world's largest photovoltaic array. The 5,2 MW plant was dismantled in the late 1990ies. But the site in the Carrizo Plain will now be revived by three new solar plants, two of the photovoltaic kind, one a solar thermal plant, all and each setting a world-record. (KEYSTONE/Georg Gerster)
