SOUTH AFRICA BIG WAVE SURFING
epa09694629 Surfer Jake Kolnick rides a wave at Sunset offshore reef in the Atlantic Ocean outside Cape Town, South Africa, 19 January 2022. Big swells are unusual during the southern hemisphere summer but a storm in the South Atlantic generated powerful swells that broke on the Cape's outer reefs making good conditions for the sport. This is the first big swell of the year. The waves were too big to paddle into so surfers used wave runners to tow each other into the waves. EPA/NIC BOTHMA
