FRANKREICH JEAN-FRANCOIS DENIAU
Photo of Jean Francois Deniau, a French statesman, essayist and novelist and member of the Academie Francaise since 1992, died in Paris, France, 24 January 2007. Deniau was born in Paris. In 1958, he became the director of Foreign Relations for the European Commission. In 1963, he was named French ambassador to Mauritania and in 1967 was appointed as one of the French European Commissioners, as a member of the Rey Commission.
