JUNGLE SETTLEMENT
Jungle settlement. Traditional Yanomami house on the banks of the Rio Negro in Venezuela. The Yanomami tribe is one of several that live in the Amazon jungle in southern Venezuela and northern Brazil. Survival of the Yanomami has been severely threatened by diseases and cultural changes brought to the area by illegal gold-miners in the late 1980s. (KEYSTONE/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY/DICCON ALEXANDER)
