TANSANIA VULAKN OL DOINYO
[Stockbild] Volcano. Aerial photograph of the active volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai, or Mountain of God. This volcano is in the Rift Valley in northern Tanzania. The summit is 2890 metres above sea level. Ol Doinyo Lengai produces natrocarbonatitic lava (white, upper right), rich in sodium and carbonates. The lava emerges from the crater at between 500 and 590 degrees Celsius, the coolest lava of any known active volcano. Lush vegetation thrives during the rainy season on the flanks of the cone.
