MODEL RELEASED. Forensics fingerprinting material testing. Researcher recording details on a fingerprint impression mould obtained from one of the fingers of a cadaver (feet in foreground). This work is being done as part of research into new materials being used for fingerprint impression moulds. The impressions are taken by preparing a silicone-based elastomer material and applying it to the finger tips. The material dries on contact with air when a setting agent is added prior to use. In this research, a new material was shown to set faster and produce clearer fingerprint detail than a comparison material being used. Photographed in 2007, at Cardiff University, Wales.
