An Arabian terrorist (r, window) is talking from the window of the Israeli team accommodation in the Olympic village of the Munich Summer Games, on 5 September 1972, with the members of a German negotiating delegation, lead by Federal Minister of Interior Hans-Dietrich Genscher (2nd from left). Arabian terrorists of the group 'Black September' had attacked the Israeli accommodation in the Olympic village, killed two Israelis and took nine hostages in the morning of 5th September. Their ultimatum: release of 200 imprisoned Palestinians and free passage with the other hostages. In the evening, the terrorists fly with their hostages in helicopters to the military airport Fürstenfeldbruck. Hours later, the rescue operation fails. All nine Israeli hostages, five Arabian terrorists, and a Munich police officer lose their lives during the operation, three terrrorist get injured and arrested. (KEYSTONE/DPA/dpa)
