AEGYPTEN HOSNI MUBARAK ANWAR SADAT
A picture dated 06 October 1981 shows Egyptian Vice President Hosni Mubarak (L) President Anwar el Sadat (R) saluting during a military parade prior to the assassination of Sadat. Mubarak assumed the presidency on 14 October 1981 and has ruled Egypt for 27 years. President Mubarak will celebrate his 80th birthday 04 May 2008 and as ruler of Egypt for 27 years he will become the third longest leader in Egypt's 5,000 year history behind Ramses II (66 years) and Mohammed Ali (43 years). Mubarak has not appointed a vice president and many believe he is grooming his son, Gamal, to become president. (KEYSTONE/EPA/FAROUK IBRAHIM)
