FRANKREICH GABRIEL LIPPMANN
Gabriel Lippmann (1845-1921), French physicist, in his laboratory. Lippmann gained fame for his work in optics and electricity. In 1908 he received the Nobel Prize for Physics for producing the first colour photograph. The technique relied on the interference principle, and was too complicated to succeed commercially.
