KONGSVEGEN GLACIER
Kongsvegen glacier. Icebergs in the foreground have broken off the terminal face of this tidewater glacier as it reaches the sea and extends into this fjord (the Kongsfjorden). Kongsvegen is 20 kilometres long and merges with another glacier, the Kronebreen, as it reaches the sea. Kongsvegen is located in the west of Spitsbergen, an island in Svalbard, an Arctic archipelago governed by Norway. (KEYSTONE/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY/DR JUERG ALEAN/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY)
