GROSSBRITANNIEN LONDON EYE 1999
Workmen in a cradle are dwarfed by the cables of the 1,500-tonne London Eye, after it's frame was successfully lifted into the fully upright position on the banks of the River Thames in London, Sunday Oct. 17, 1999. The 450-foot (173-meter), high structure, which stands on LondonÕs South Bank almost opposite the Houses of Parliament, will now be fitted with 32 special viewing capsules to give visitors a spectacular view of the capitalÕs skyline.
