Children dance ring-a-ring-a-roses on a schoolyard in Unterbaech in the canton of Valais, Switzerland, in February 1957. The municipal council had decided to give women the right to vote for the first time. The women were required to cast their ballot papers in a seperate box. However, the ballot for this municipality was revoked by the government of the canton of Valais and the Federation. The majority of cantons implemented female suffrage on the municipal and cantonal level in 1971. Auf einen Beschluss des Gemeinderats nahmen in Unterbaech am 3. Maerz 1957 erstmals Frauen an einer Abstimmung teil. Die Abstimmung ueber den obligatorischen Zivilschutz fuer Frauen wurde aber vom Kanton Wallis und vom Bund fuer diese Gemeinde annulliert.
