US pilot Steve Fossett points to Australia, the starting and finishing point of his flight, during a press conference in Sydney, 04 July 2002, after successfully completing the first solo balloon circumnavigation of the world. The 58-year-old Chicago tycoon made aviation history when, on 02 July, he crossed the longitude 117 degrees east - the line in Western Australia that on 19 June was the starting point of his ambitious journey. Fossett also set new records for the longest distance and longest duration solo flights when he landed safely in the Australian outback near Birdsville on 04 July. EPA AFP PHOTO/Torsten BLACKWOOD
