FUSSBALL WM 1954 FINAL DEU HUN
The ball of German former soccer ace Helmut Rahn (not in frame), lands in the goal during the 1954 World Cup finals Germany against Hungary in Bern, Switzerland, 4 July 1954. Rahn kicked the ball from a distance of 17 metres past the Hungarian goalkeeper Gyula Grosics (L). He would have turned 74 on 16 August 2003. Rahn advanced to become the hero of the 1954 world championship finals when he scored the 3-2 goal against Hungary. He played in 40 international games and scored up to 21 goals. With his soccer club Red White Essen he won the German DFB cup in 1953 and became German champion in 1955. Rahn quit his career due to a knee injury. (KEYSTONE/DPA/Str) === , ===
