A control module in a GPS-controlled tractor with a drip hose boom, pictured at the Swiss Future Farm in Ettenhausen in the Canton of Thurgau, Switzerland, on April 9, 2018. A NIR sensor (short for near-infrared spectroscopy) in the manure tank determines the nutrients in the menure and the outgoing quantity. A project of the Canton of Thurgau in partnership with the companies AGCO Corporation and GVS Agrar AG, the Swiss Future Farm is a demonstration farm for smart-farming technologies, where Agroscope, the Swiss centre for agricultural research, analyses the benefits of digitalisation for agriculture and develops new technologies.
