SWISS PRESS PHOTO 18 - 2. PREIS PORTRAIT: JONATHAN LIECHTI - They are refugees in their own country: these eight people live with over a thousand others in the Nigerian village of Gurku. They escaped from the Islamist terrorist organization Boko Haram, which rampages in the north of the African country and attacks farmers there to pilfer food supplies. The refugee village is born out of an initiative by a Protestant church. Here, near the capital Abuja, Muslims and Christians live peacefully side by side, despite the lack of electricity or running water, and great homesickness.
