USA ATOMBOMBE TEST 1945
The base camp used for the Trinity Project, the world's first detonation of a nuclear weapon, which was conducted on July 16th 1945 on the Alamogordo bombing range in the Jornada del Muerto, New Mexico. The camp was built in the desert by the army in the winter of 1944. By the next summer it was a bustling hive of activity housing 200 scientists, soldiers and technicians. The site's remoteness made conditions very difficult (the nearest town , Carrizozo, was 43 kilometres away) and security was very strict, personnel were required to remain in the camp at all times unless working.
