A canal, in Nijhum Dwip (Nijhum Island), a cluster of islands emerged in the early 1950s in the shallow estuary of the Bay of Bengal on the south of Noakhali district, in Bangladesh. The Forest Department of Bangladesh created a mangrove forest on the island and in 2001 declared it as a National Park.
