epa01741321 A image showing a composite image depicting a cooling tower (R) at North Korea's main nuclear site in Yongbyon, that will be demolished 27 June 2008, and another two satellite images that the Institute for Science and International Security released on its Web site in 2005. The image at left, dated 07 January 2005, shows a plume of steam from the tower, meaning the facility was in operation at that time, while the central image taken in April 2005 shows no steam, indicating that operations were suspended. North Korea said 25 May 2009 it "successfully" conducted a nuclear test, following up on earlier threats issued after the UN Security Council criticized a rocket launch by the Stalinist state. A South Korean official, quoted by the Yonhap news agency, said earlier that South Korea had detected artificial tremors around 0044 GMT, which were an indication of a nuclear test. EPA/STR
