SCHWEIZ NATIONALPARK ADULA
Sign near the chapel Capella di Termine at Passo di Piotta in the Adula Park, Switzerland. The concept for a second Swiss national park (Adula National Park) was developed in the year 2000 and envisions the realization of the park until 2015. Pursuing sustainable and harmonic strategies, Parc Adula combines the vision of the preservation of a monumental alpine landscape and the protection of its natural resources. The aim is to revitalize the regions through socio-economic development. The high plain Greina is now to become the centerpiece of Swiss national park, Adula, named after the 3,402-metre-high Adula mountain in the south of the Greina. The park stretches over about 1,000 square kilometres, from the southern slopes of the Vorderrhein Valley between Disentis and Trun over the Greina and the surrounding area, down to the Hinterrhein Valley, Misox and the Blenio Valley in Ticino, all showing a typical alpine character. All in all 20 communes in four regions, two cantons and three language regions are involved in the national park project. (Gaetan Bally/KEYSTONE)
