For the first time in history, men and women jointly raise their hands to vote at the "Landsgemeinde" - cantonal assembly - of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden, pictured on April 28, 1991, in Appenzell, Switzerland. After a year-long struggle and a final verdict by the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland of 1990, the women's right to vote is finally granted in the demicanton of Appenzell Innerrhoden on municipal and cantonal level, as well.
