FLYING GURNARD DISPLAYING
Flying gurnard displaying. Flying gurnards (Dactyloptena orientalis) use finger-like extensions on their pectoral fins to crawl across the sea floor. However, if threatened, they spread these extremely large fins revealing bright markings to startle their predators. Photographed in the Lembeh Strait, Sulawesi, Indonesia.
